Ava's Newborn Portrait Session
Hi All!
Ava's portraits turned out so well! We have uploaded the high resolution files to our Pisasa photo site. Just click on the album on the right to get to the site. If you plan to take the files somewhere to get them printed please let me know and I will send you the copyright release. You will most likely need this to pick up your pictures. I know Wal-Mart in particular is very strict about this.
There isn't much else going on in our world. Kevin is still home (yea!), he will be home until January 5th when he flies out for his new project which is located outside of Detroit. This project is slated to last about nine weeks. In the meantime, Ava and I are enjoying having him here.
Ava and I are keeping busy with Christmas shopping (online mostly), decorating the house, and baking cookies! I'm enjoying being home this December. It is the first time in 7 years I haven't had to fly out for the annual Dale Carnegie convention -- it is so nice to be home!

Thanksgiving Weekend
Happy Thanksgiving!
We hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving. We certainly did! On Thanksgiving Day Ava got to meet her Great Grandma & Grandpa Capps for the first time. She also got to hang out with "Big" Cousin Preston. The festivities wore them both out.
On Saturday, our new little family ventured out to get our Christmas tree. It was a chilly morning but we only had to travel one mile to get to Oma's Barn where we bought our tree this year. Ava pretty much slept through the entire experience. But she had quite a few admirers at the tree lot. Later in the day, Ava had her newborn portrait session at the house. We can't wait to see the pictures! We should have a link to send out to everyone in a few days. Ava was such a good model. She stared right into the camera for most of the shots (future career possibly?).

Spots
We have searched high and low to find a Dalmatian puppy that would match Ava's new outfit with no luck we'll continue our search and keep you all posted. Thanks to Aunt Janeette and Uncle Bill for the crazy outfit... We love it....

Home from the Hospital
Ava was released from the hospital on Sunday morning. She was such a good patient! She made a dramatic decrease from a billirubin level of a high 20 to a 12 in less than 24 hours! We were happy to be home yesterday. We spent the day getting used to being back home, it was a little rough with the feedings but today is going great! Ava is eating very well and has been a lot more alert (no doubt from the billirubin leaving her system). We go back to the doctor tomorrow for a weigh in just to make sure she is gaining the weight she should but we expect all will be fine!

First Outing
Ava raises her arms in disbelief that she’s headed out into the world for her first outing, no doubt worried whether or not her hair and makeup look ok.
We have a Dr apt this morning where Ava was rated in the 25th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height. She was overall considered healthy but with a bit of Jaundice 20/25 so we were asked to get her jaundice level tested at the local hospital.
Not feeling beautiful enough Ava decided we needed another night at the SPA (Hospital) for some tanning treatments to get her Jaundice under control. After 6 Hrs under the UV light she dropped 5 points to 15 with expectations to be released tomorrow.
Homeward Bound
Thursday morning we were released from the hospital and started our trip home and the journey of a lifetime. Once we arrived safely at home Miss Ava was greeted by the kings of the jungle. With uncertainty the cat’s continued to observe from afar not sure what to think of this new addition.
Michelle’s mom is staying with us for a few days visiting her new grandbaby and helping around the house, cooking those amazing meals and giving us the breaks to catch up on our sleep.
The first two nights' home haven't been too bad. Ava’s eating on a fairly regular basis with a few fits during the night that take a bit of coaxing to get her back to sleep.
We’ve had a few visitors Michelle’s sister and her two boys with Michelle’s parents.

Announcing The Arrival of Ava Grace Nelson
Ava has finally graced us with her presence at 11:11am on Nov 4th 2008 at a weight of 7lb 12oz. Michelle had no problems delivery was very quick. Ava is very quiet, hasen't fussed much and has started feeding with mom.
Labor Day
We departed for the hospital last night around 11pm after Michelle started to have contractions from five to seven minutes apart. Once we arrive they connected her up to the fetal monitors and admitted us at 1am. Michelle wrestled with the contractions until 4am before requesting the epidural. She is currently about 6cm dialated and we are patiently awaiting our bundle of joy.

41 Weeks
So I guess Ava is going to be a November baby now! :) At least we bypassed Halloween-whew!
Still no major progress. I had some contractions last night for a few hours then they went away (again). UGH! Tomorrow is our induce date though! So if nothing happens today, we'll be going into the hospital tomorrow night around 7-8pm. They will either induce me then or wait until Wednesday morning. So she should be arriving no later than sometime on Wednesday! Yea!

40th Week Appointment
OK, so today is suppose to be the day...right? Doesn't look like it. :( And nothing much new learned at our appointment today. So we're still just waiting for Miss Ava to make her appearance!

39 Week Appointment
OK, so we just got back from the doctor's office and he saw a little more progress today. Still nothing major. UGH. We are hoping that I go into labor on my own within the next week but if not, he put me on the induction schedule. So, we are scheduled for one week after my due date, November 4th, if she doesn't come before.
On a very happy note, Kevin has finished installing the carpet in the basement! So it is totally livable now! Not completely finished, but someone could definitely bunk down there for a while and be comfy! Yea! Way to go Kev!
I hope my next update is announcing our baby girl's arrival! Keep us in your prayers!

38th Week Appointment
The doc said in our 38th week appointment that I've made more progress! Yea!
Meanwhile, Kev has made A LOT of progress on the basement. He painted over the weekend and is installing the carpet this week. It should be inhabitable by this weekend-yea!

37th Week Appointment
Hi there!
The baby is full term this week-yea! We're hoping (well, I am anyway) that she shows herself soon. We had our appointment today and the doctor said there was a little progress made.
In the meantime, we're keeping busy. We picked apples and pumpkins last weekend, this week Kevin continued to work on the basement, as he will continue to do until Ava arrives in hopes of finishing it before. I am trying to take it easy when I'm not at work (which has been super stressful lately).

36 Week Appointment

35 Week Appointment
We had our 35 week appointment on Dad's birthday, 9/26/08. The doctor told us that I am starting to dialate and efface! Yea! Might not be too long now!
Meanwhile, Kevin is working very hard on trying to finish the basement before the baby arrives. He finished the bathroom last week and has the rest of the basement dry walled. He'll be working on mudding, taping, and sanding this week!

OK, so I figured we should create a blog site for our little family since everyone else is. :) So, not much to show yet, as we're still waiting for baby's arrival, but once she decides to to enter the world we'll have tons of fun stuff to share on this site.
